
THEWHATWORKS’ director Imogen Butler-Cole is currently in Dhaka producing and coaching Dhaka Theatre’s first ever UK show The Tempest in Bangla for the Globe to Globe Festival at Shakespeare’s Globe as part of the World Shakespeare Festival 2012. THEWHATWORKS is a new international theatre company working in India, Brasil, Bangladesh and the UK. We aim to make our performances available to audiences who do not always have easy access to the arts.
THEWHATWORKS’ Artistic Director Imogen Butler-Cole directed sell-out runs of her first two productions: Much Ado About Nothing – in Hindi, Urdu and English in Mumbai, 2006; and Fora das Correntes – in Portuguese and English at TARA Arts in 2009.
Also trained as an actress, Imogen has performed in London, France, New Zealand, India, Belgium, Bangladesh and Brasil. She speaks French, Portuguese, Bangla and Hindi, writes and performs spokenword and works as Theatre Advisor with DIKSHA, an NGO run by and for marginalised adolescents in Kolkata.
